Named Annual Meeting Awards for Trainees

Baltimore Family Fund Award. This award was made possible through a generous grant provided by The Baltimore Family Fund and The Rockefeller Foundation to support students and postdoctoral scholars attending the Society's annual meeting.

Kate Ryman Student Award. This award is made possible through contributions received by friends and colleagues to honor the memory and achievements of Kate Ryman who passed away during the fall of 2015. Kate was an outstanding scientist who was dedicated to the training of students and to the American Society for Virology. Kate’s research provided many new insights into the early virus-host interactions that shape the outcome of arbovirus infections. Thus, the ASV Kate Ryman Student Award is provided to one student each year whose research focuses on arbovirus pathogenesis.

Milt Zaitlin Student Award. This award was established through contributions received by friends and colleagues to honor the memory and achievements of a dedicated scientist, Milt Zaitlin. The ASV Milt Zaitlin Student Award is provided to one student each year whose research focuses on plant virology.

Trainee Award for Underrepresented Viruses. This award is made possible through an endowment established by Marilyn Roossinck, former ASV Councilor and professor emeritus of virus ecology at Pennsylvania State University, to support trainees who study underrepresented viruses.
